Hoping at least one of our selections proves to be a Saturday Machine

Ray Flanagan provides Saturday selections with three strong cards from Cheltenham, Doncaster and Fairyhouse

The traditional trials card from jumping headquarters, although arguably the day’s action is overshadowed by the prospect of the big fixtures to come over the next two weekends. Nonetheless a few interesting propositions around today worthy of a speculative wager.

Recommended Bets

1 pt win- Whatmore- 1.55 Cheltenham- 9-1 bet 365 (Looked a handicapper to follow after two good efforts at Cheltenham and Ascot respectively before being sidelined for well over a year now. Remains a horse of potential and could have too much for these if resuming fit and well.

1 pt win-DeMachine-3.20 Doncaster- 8-1 bet 365 (Nice effort in the Reynoldstown at Ascot last February and fair reappearance effort in the Hennessey at Newbury although finished very tired there. Easier track on less demanding ground today are positives for his chances.

1 pt ew- Rahjalad-4.00 Fairyhouse-16-1 General – 5 places ( Few snippets of encouragement in maiden company where gave the impression he is an out and out stayer in the making. Could make a step forward here on handicap bow stepping up to Three miles.)

1 pt win- Western Zara-4.00 Fairyhouse-7-1 General ( Similarly looks a good tough stayer in the making. Decent effort at Limerick over Christmas and could easily be in the shake up for the Paul Nolan team.
