Dare with Dunboyne at Leopardstown

Ray Flanagan offers his weekend fancies at Leopardstown

Western Zara (7-1) was a winner for the column last Saturday. A cracking two days racing at Leopardstown this weekend and I offer my main fancies over both days.

Recommended Bets

2 pts ew- Dunboyne-2.45 Leopardstown Saturday- 13-2 Paddy Power- 7 places (Useful form in novice company and arguably posted his best effort to date on his most recent start when fifth in a competitive Christmas handicap. Gives the impression there us more in the locker and interesting to find out if that improvement comes today.

1 pt win-Birchdale-2.25 Leopardstown Sunday- 6-1 General (Travelled well for a long way in the Paddy Power. Drop back in trip combined with low racing weight gives him every chance)

1.5 pts ew- Ten Ten- 2.25 Leopardstown Sunday- 20-1 bet 365 ( I have a sneaking feeling for this lad albeit he has to leave behind a dismal reappearance run at Limerick. Ran two notable races over longer distances at Naas and Punchestown last term and is handicapped to win a nice pot, while Mark Walsh in the saddle is another positive. Any further rain likely to boost his prospects and 20-1 could look big come Sunday afternoon.

1 pt ew- Visionarian-4.10 Leopardstown Sunday-25-1 bet 365 (Also leaves the impression that we have not yet seen the best of him. Fair novice last season and showed he cut could the mustard in handicaps when second to Would’nt You Agree at Killarney over the summer. Never really put in the race at Down Royal last time ,but as I say, I feel he is better than that. Another one who will appreciate any rainfall and decent each-way shout.

1 pt win- Cask Mate-4.10 Leopardstown Sunday-7-1 General (Could be the class horse and stable has been doing well in top handicaps this term. Gave Zanahiyr a good race on latest effort at Down Royal and strong travelling nature will help in a big field handicap.
